The new IP-stars will be revealed in March

The winners of the IP&IT LAW – 2025 competition will be selected by a jury, which includes Maxim Labzin, a partner at INTELLECT.

The annual nationwide youth competition IP&IT LAW – 2025 , dedicated to legal research in intellectual property (IP) and information technology (IT), is being held for the 10th time. As per tradition, the competition is conducted under the auspices of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) . The event is organized by the IP CLUB and the Coordination Center for the National Domain of the Internet .

The competition is open to young professionals, including:

  • University students ,
  • Recent graduates who completed their studies no more than three years ago,
  • Ph.D. candidates and doctoral students pursuing a degree in law,
  • Graduates of Ph.D. programs or holders of a Ph.D. in law who defended their dissertations within the past year.
  • Participants are not limited to Russian residents; international applicants are also welcome to compete.

The task is straightforward but demanding: participants must write an academic paper on one of the 10 topics approved by the organizers. The application deadline is February 1, 2025 .

The evaluation of submissions is entrusted to a jury composed of recognized experts in intellectual property and information technology. The jury for 2025 includes:

  • Marina Alexandrovna Rozhkova (Chair of the Jury): Chief Researcher at the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of the Russian Federation, President of IP CLUB, Doctor of Legal Sciences.
  • Ksenia Anatolyevna Babkina : Legal Advisor to the Head of Legal Services at Rosneft Oil Company.
  • Andrey Aleksandrovich Vorobiev : Director of the Coordination Center for the National Domain of the Internet.
  • Nikita Arkadyevich Danilov : General Director of the National Federation of the Music Industry, Associate Professor at the Department of Digital Technology Law and Bioethics at HSE University, Candidate of Legal Sciences.
  • Maya Igorevna Evdokimova : Head of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property's (FIPS) Center for Interaction with Government Bodies, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences.
  • Maksim Igorevich Inozemtsev : Deputy Head of the Department of Scientific Policy and Head of the Dissertation Councils Office at MGIMO, Editor-in-Chief of the journal Digital Law .
  • Kazbek Vladimirovich Karashev : Consultant at the Legal Department of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Candidate of Legal Sciences.
  • Vladimir Aleksandrovich Korneev : Deputy Chairman of the Court for Intellectual Rights, Associate Professor at the S.S. Alexeyev Private Law Research Center, Candidate of Legal Sciences.
  • Sergey Aleksandrovich Kopylov : Deputy Director for Legal Affairs at the Coordination Center for the National Domain of the Internet.
  • Maksim Valeryevich Labzin : Partner at INTELLECT Law Firm, Head of the Intellectual Property Practice Group, Registered Patent Attorney of the Russian Federation.
  • Alexey Aleksandrovich Robinov : Senior Partner at the Intellectual Property Agency «YOUR PATENT», Associate Professor at MGIMO, Candidate of Legal Sciences.
  • Victoria Sergeevna Savina : Professor of Civil Law Disciplines at the Higher School of Law of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, Doctor of Legal Sciences.
  • Pavel Viktorovich Sadovsky : Partner at EPAM Law Firm, Head of Intellectual Property / Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) Practice, Candidate of Legal Sciences.
  • Awards and Prizes

Winners of the competition will receive monetary rewards along with additional prizes, such as: Internships at the Court for Intellectual Rights and leading law firms, Certificates for professional training courses, Special awards from WIPO.

Moreover, the best papers recommended by the jury will be published in the journal of the Court for Intellectual Rights .

The names of the laureates of IP&IT LAW – 2025 are expected to be announced by the end of March 2025 .
